Restaurant Review: Mama Cozza's

Picture from saturdaynightfoodies.com

So on a recent trip to Anaheim, we decided to try out a restaurant we saw on Triple D (Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives).  Being close to where we were staying and needing to carb load before the Surf City Half Marathon, we thought that it was worth a visit.

The decor is full of picture memorabilia, with a huge picture of Guy Fieri.  Mama Cozza's is your typical classic Italian restaurant, down to the bread sticks at the table.

The service was excellent. Our server took our order as well as was very helpful in making selections with our younger kids. Mama Cozza's does not have a children's menu, so our server suggested we order two sides of pasta and one meatball, which was huge.

Mama Cozza's makes it the fifth restaurant we have eaten at that has been featured on the show. I had the minestrone soup followed by spaghetti and sausage.

The portions were definitely huge; however, the food was just OK.  The pasta in both the soup and spaghetti was far from al dente.  The sauce was basic tomato sauce with very little flavor. The sausage was good though and filling.

Beth had the Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo.  While it was extremely rich and thick, it lacked flavor.  That said, the portion size was again huge.  Emma had the meatball pizza, which was great and satisfying.

Overall it was a good but not great restaurant.  We will probably stick to our favorites in the area, like Casa Gamino, which is surprisingly next door.
